Most frequently asked questions and answers regarding Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-rich plasma uses your own body’s natural restoration process reduce signs of aging and alopecia, or hair loss. Using your own platelets, a simple and quick series of injections can be used to restore youth to your skin and hair.
Upon arrival at your appointment, you will receive a full consultation discussing what your goals are after receiving PRP. A few tubes of blood will be drawn, and then a special device called a centrifuge is used to concentrate a portion of the blood that contains potent growth and anti-aging properties. This concentrate is then injected into trouble areas to reduce signs of aging or when used to alopecia can restore hair growth.

For hair loss, receiving PRP treatments along with proper topical medications is one of the only scientific proven methods of treating alopecia other than invasive and expensive hair transplant procedures.
A study published in 2015 in the journal Stem Cells Translational Medicine, which found that men receiving PRP treatment grew more hair and with significantly more density than men who did not.
Alternative procedures to help with wrinkles and photodamage include other non-invasive treatments we also offer such as Botox, microneedling, filler, chemical peels or lasers. Other procedures include invasive surgical procedures (i.e. facelifts) that are much more costly, dangerous, and time-intensive.
Many non-physicians offer PRP treatment, but you should only use trusted board-certified physicians for cosmetic procedures. When you receive treatment through a board-certified dermatologist, you know they uphold an esteemed standard of care. Treatments done in the hands on unskilled personnel can lead to scarring, infection, lack of desired results, and other adverse effects.
