Dysport

Dysport (AbobotulinumtoxinA)

FDA-approved botulinum toxin with a slightly faster onset than Botox for some patients. Used for the same dynamic-line indications.

What it is

Dysport (AbobotulinumtoxinA) is FDA-approved botulinum toxin. Mechanism is the same as Botox; the formulation differs in molecule size and clinical onset profile. Many patients notice softening within two to five days.

How we approach it

Patients who already know they respond well to neurotoxin sometimes prefer Dysport for its faster onset before an event. The injector dose-calibrates per the published Dysport conversion ratios and your prior response.

What to expect

Onset two to five days. Full effect at seven to fourteen days. Duration three to four months. Post-treatment care identical to other neurotoxins.

Candidacy

Good for established neurotoxin patients who want a slightly faster onset, or for patients with wider areas that benefit from the diffusion pattern. Not for pregnant or nursing patients or those with neuromuscular disease.

Indicated for

  • Patients who prefer faster visible onset
  • Patients with a wider treatment area (forehead, lateral brow spread)
  • Patients with established Botox tolerance who want to compare

Not a candidate if

  • Pregnant or nursing patients
  • Patients with neuromuscular disease
  • Patients who specifically want longest possible duration — consider Daxxify

Before your visit

  • Dose conversions from Botox are not one-to-one; trust the injector's calibration
  • Spread pattern can be slightly wider than Botox; placement matters more
